In 2001 the Company embarked on a major expansion plan that included the building of a fully climate controlled plant in Sri Lanka, which opened in 2005 and continues to be run by one of the founding partners.
Offering full design and manufacturing capabilities and utilising the same high speed machining, linear sparking & wire erosion technologies used in the UK, the Sri Lanka facility is conveniently located 15 miles north of the capital Columbo and only a 5 minute drive from the Bandaranaike International Airport terminal.
Prior to the facility opening, 3 tool designers and 8 toolmakers from Sri Lanka served a 4 year training programme at the UK facility to ensure the Company’s exacting standards are maintained. Once completed they became team leaders and continue to train and develop the Sri Lankan workforce.
All mould bases, ancillaries and special steels are sourced from leading European suppliers and shipped from the UK. The two facilities have a regular supply chain between them with a 3 day door to door turnaround. The Sri Lankan factory also has a comprehensive stock of consumables and steels, again sourced from Europe.
